Public post-secondary education for students with dependent children is a growing need in our community and we recognize that the journey to and through college can be even more challenging for student parents as they juggle academic demands while also raising children. ڰAPP recognizes that student parents may face greater economic barriers than students without children and we are here to help.
A student parent is defined as a student who has a child under 18 years of age who will receive more than half of their support from the student (parent). The student parent population is supp through AB 2881 which provides a multifaceted approach to support student parents at the community colleges, California State University, and University of California by granting priority registration to student parents, as well as listing available resources.
We have established this student parent webpage to highlight available services and resources, and to increase awareness of the . We are dedicated to the academic success and degree attainment for student parents, while focusing on their needs and the needs of their children.
ڰAPP offers Level 1 Priority Registration to student parents. This means student parents receive earlier registration appointments when priority registration opens each term. For more information about priority registration and important deadlines, please visit the Enrollment Services webpage.

Are you an enrolled ڰAPP student who is a parent or guardian responsible for the care of children 6-17 years old? Do you struggle to find afterschool care while you are on campus to attend classes, counseling appointments, or when you need to study or visit the library?
Good news! ڰAPP has an afterschool program on-site through a partnership between the Boys & Girls Club and the Office of Basic Needs.
Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday, 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., and Fridays 1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. (Subject to Change)
Student parents with children aged 6–17 years old may be eligible for after-school program support offered through a partnership between the Boys & Girls Club and ڰAPP Basic Needs.
The goal of this program is to support student parents so they can successfully complete their educational goals, including coursework and tutoring, while their children participate in a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
Because demand may exceed capacity, students will be prioritized based on a holistic
review of:
• Class schedules
• Tutoring schedules
• Educational and wellbeing barriers
• Unmet needs
Priority will be given to student parents who do not already receive childcare support
services or funding; however, those who do (e.g., CARE, CalWORKs, or other campus
programs) are still eligible and will not be disqualified on this basis alone.
If students present similar situations, acceptance will be determined on a first come,
first serve basis, as space in the program is limited.
Any student parent that feels the afterschool program can help support their educational goals are encouraged to apply. This program is designed to complement existing resources, not replace them, and to expand support for as many student parents as possible.
All student parents interested in after-school program support, complete the and select 'Yes' when asked, 'Are you a student parent inquiring about Afterschool program support?'. The Office of Basic Needs will use the form to follow up with students about availability in the after-school program.
The program provides support to the most essential resources required to thrive as a student, which includes access to nutritious food, stable housing, and wellness resources.
The support program provides wraparound services to eligible CalWORKs students. To be eligible, students must be receiving TANF/Cash Aid. The program collaborates with the Stanislaus County Community Services Agency to provide a seamless process and support services including priority registration, counseling, work study opportunities, grants, etc.
