Hear the inspiring story of Judge LaDoris Hazzard Cordell

ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏAPP in partnership with Modesto Peace Life Center presents the 31st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration. The community is welcome to join us for this inspiring and free event on ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏAPP's East Campus in the Performing Arts Center. Starting at 4pm Judge LaDoris Hazzard Cordell will tell her story of being the first African American woman jurist in Northern California. Judge Cordell, the first African American woman to sit on the Superior Court of Northern California, knows firsthand how prejudice has permeated our legal system. And yet, she believes in the system. From ending school segregation to legalizing same-sex marriage, its progress relies on legal professionals and jurors who strive to make the imperfect system as fair as possible.

6:00 p.m. - Doors Open
7:00 p.m. - Program Begins

Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Award

The Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Award will be awarded to Gladys Williams in celebration of her invaluable contribution to the community.
